Me...

-- The images I have submitted show my diverse capability of ways of producing artistic and design outcomes. I have included works from photography, fine art, life drawing, 3D design and carpentry. I have worked on projects where I have had to design a sustainable architectural space to working on automatic drawing machines. I am currently working on a five week project where I am directed to create my own brief and show creative response. Designing a bar where the theme is a mixture of psychedelic 60’s projections and furnishings crossed with a chilled, cultural ambience where people are able to relax in a unique way yet creates an idealistic playground for people to de-stress and associate with others. My main aim when designing is to get people interacting with one another as I believe we now live in a world filled with prejudice. My influences are the sculptor Richard Serra and performance artist Wang Peng. They use unique ways of getting people to interact and do the abnormal, altering peoples impressions. Their concepts both make people who are familiar with their repetitive surroundings, then break that chain by making them notice what is around them in the most simplistic way. I want to make this impression on the interior design world, getting people to network where they wouldn’t normally. Creating an atmosphere that people would walk into and automatically would not act on their inhibitions, to self-create a setting of socialising with one another. I am attracted to this course because I believe I would be able to make my unique mark on the industry, designing in an expressive, artistic and powerful way.MMU has a great reputation which is why I want to get on to the course and express my creativity and pursue an interior design career. The programme has a broad appeal as I will be able to engage in live projects, get a sense of space in other countries and cities. I will also be given the chance to develop my basic skills and explore projects in my specialism, plus be able to tackle major projects and have opportunity of a placement.
